Essential Requirements 

  • You must have a CELTA, Trinity TESOL, or equivalent initial teaching qualification
  • The position is open to both EU / non EU applicants
  • Driving licence preferred
  • YL experience preferred

Job Description 

Teachers at IH La Spezia and Sarzana have a great opportunity to teach a wide range of classes, which include YL, teenagers, exam prep, conversation in state schools and CLIL. Applicants with suitable experience will also be able to enjoy VYL and workshop-type courses.

A normal weekly timetable ranges from 20 to 23 teaching hours. 
 

Some local travel will be involved to reach external venues. Any travel outside the local area will be reimbursed and travel time will be counted as working hours.

  • Applicants will have the opportunity to train as speaking examiners for Cambridge English certifications. The positions are open for both centres. 
  • Teachers will receive full paid induction (about 20hrs) and opportunities for professional development through IH World or AISLi our national association of language schools.
  • The contract will include an end-of-year bonus (to be discussed)

Other Benefits

Flights: Applicants will receive a contribution of €250 as settling allowance

Accommodation: The school will help you find suitable accommodation. The cost of rent is usually around €500/€550 per month for a 1 bedroom flat.

Visa: If you are not an EU citizen we will assist you in all the stages of Visa request

Holiday: Teachers will benefit from 28 days holiday over a 1 year working contract period.

 

About the school and city

IH La Spezia was founded in 1980 by Lynden Cronin as “Studio Inglese” and affiliated to the International House World Organisation in 1984. The school in Sarzana was opened in 1991. We have been a member of the Associazione italiana scuole di lingue (AISLi) since 1986.
