The Distance DELTA is a unique course offered by IH London and the British Council. You can take your DELTA totally online either as an integrated modular programme or as individual modules taken in any order you choose. Each module is separately certificated by Cambridge Assessment English.
The overall course content is exactly the same as any DELTA ( see full details here).
This Orientation course is an essential part of the Module 2 programme, consisting of input sessions and teaching practice. You can take the orientation course at different centres around the world. The cost of the orientation course is paid directly the centre where you are taking it, and will be deducted from the overall module 2 costs.
The Orientation course is designed to equip you with the skills you need for the rest of your DELTA course, specifically
- lesson planning
- lesson appraisal
- language analysis
- research
- essay writing skills.
The Orientation course helps you to identify principles and beliefs underlying your current practice and to set professional development targets for the rest of the course. As a distance learner, it is important that you make contact with others who are following the same programme so that you can share your ideas, experience and opinions. Unit 1 of the programme, including work on your first Module 2 Assignment, is completed during the Orientation Course. The Cambridge requirement for 10 hours of peer observation is also met on the course.
