About the teacher training centre

BKC-IH is the biggest school chain in Moscow. There are central schools within 10 min from the Kremlin as well as there are affiliate branches in cozy suburbs near parks and lakes. We have the most convenient metro net and public transport system in the world.

The school continues to translate the values once established in International House - language helps to unite people, to bring joy and to expand the horizons. High standards and professionalism in the workplace come along with a huge amount  of humanity and support from our colleagues - whether they are administrators or directors.

Each year over 90% of our students pass international exams with great results, allowing them to apply at the world's best universities and colleges.   Our methodology is renown for its effectiveness and is used in 160 schools of 58 countries in the world. We have long established history of successful cooperation with such partners as IH, the University of Cambridge and the British Council.

BKC-IH Moscow is the only network of foreign languages schools in CIS that can run all kinds of international exams. Our Cambridge Examinations Testing Centre, authorised by Cambridge English Languages Assessment, has received the platinum status 3rd year in a row. 7500 candidates take exams there every year.

BKC-IH helps a charity organization "Sheredar" - the rehabilitation center for children who have fought cancer. The center was established by BKC-IH CEO Michael Afanasievich Bondarev. He is often present in the office, do not miss a chance to say "hello".

BKC-IH Moscow is ready for a new chapter in its long and successful history and you can become a part of it.

What is the CELTA?

The CELTA is a TEFL qualification which prepares you to teach English as a foreign language. You don’t need any existing English language teaching experience or training. It’s usually a 4 or 5 week full time course (but you can also take it part time).

Standing up in front of a class for the first time is a daunting prospect, so you need to make sure you have the skills you need to teach effectively. The CELTA prepares you for the classroom in these ways:

  • Taught sessions on methodology, lesson planning, language analysis and language skills. (In total, you’ll have 120 hours of input.)
  • The opportunity to observe experienced teachers in a real-life language classroom situations – so you can see the different skills and techniques they use.
  • Teaching yourself – with helpful and detailed feedback from your tutors.  This practical experience is invaluable when you start your first job.

You’ll have to complete some written assignments as well, but when it’s all successfully completed you’ll be ready for your first job and first students!

CELTA Student testimonials

The course was extremely useful and totally practical. I loved the way the tutors (Tatiana Polovinkina, Irina Grekova and Joanna Graham) were conducting the input and feedback sessions, they turned out to be very helpful in terms of professional development. The only thing that I think could be improved is the facilities. The course was taught in August, and sometimes the weather was really hot. There was no functioning air conditioning in the office, and the rooms tended to get really stuffy even with the open windows. Besides, some of the rooms were pretty small to accommodate tutors, CELTA candidates and students. All in all, I've got a positive impression of the course, I genuinely enjoyed doing it. During these 4 weeks, I met so many nice and interesting people (tutors, colleagues and students) who made this experience so amazing and totally worth it. Valeria S

The course was incredible. We had many sleepless nights, however, it's worth it! Our tutors supported us a lot, it felt like they were ready to help 24/7. I wholeheartedly admired the way they presented the course materials and organized teaching practices in terms of feedback and supervision. P. Andrei

It was fantastic - life-changing! The content of the input sessions was priceless, we learnt a lot of the terms and got a clear understanding of how the communicative approach in ELT works. The teaching practice was the most challenging but the most productive part. I think the way it's organized - planning, consulting with tutors, teaching, self-evaluation, feedback - is very well-thought and is highly beneficial for trainees. Lesson planning was actually absolutely new for me, but it proved that the best improvisation is the preplanned one, so I am very happy that I learnt how to do it (it's been two weeks since CELTA finished, and I've been planning my every lesson like that now, it does help a lot!). And I'd like to point out that we got huge support in terms of time-management and organisation - from an excursion around the building on our first day to tutor's advice on taking notes. The amount of information was overwhelming, but we were not lost in it. K. Lyubskaya
