Radwa is a CELTA trainer at IH Cairo

How long were you an EFL teacher, and how long have you been a teacher trainer?

I’ve been an EFL teacher for 13 years. I’ve been a teacher trainer for 7 years.

Did you have a different career before EFL?

Yes, but only a brief career in translation.

What are your hopes/aspirations for your trainees?

I really hope my trainees are always seen as an added value to any staff room.

When you were an EFL teacher what did you like most, and how do you bring that into the classroom for your trainees?

I like group work and competitions the most and I usually incorporate them into my input sessions. I demonstrate to my trainees creative techniques to u up or group learners.

What advice would you give your trainees for successfully completing the course?

Listen carefully to your tutors’ instructions and feedback, and reward yourself after every successful teaching practice.

What advice would you give your trainees for an interesting and rewarding career?

Take care of your mental well-being; work very hard, but don’t get to the edge of burnout.
