About the School and Location
IH Torres Vedras has been a trusted name in language education in the community since 1990 and currently has a diverse student body of 400+ students, with around 70% aged between 9 and 18. We enjoy an excellent reputation locally, and many of our students are second generations of the same families who have studied here.
Our team consists of five full-time teachers, three part-time teachers, a Director of Studies and a Head of Training and Teacher Development, as well as Director and admin staff.

IH Torres Vedras opened its doors in 1990 and currently has 400+ students. Approximately 70% of the student population is aged between 9 and 18. There are two premises, both of which are a few minutes’ walk from the city centre. Most teaching takes place in IH One – a modern ground floor purpose-built school with eight classrooms; IH Two is also used as an exams and teacher training centre. We enjoy an excellent reputation locally, and many of our students are second generations of the same families who have studied here.
Torres Vedras is a small but lively city within easy distance of Lisbon (40 minute bus ride) and 20 minutes from the coast. It has numerous good-quality and reasonably-priced restaurants, lovely parks and a sizeable shopping centre with cinemas. Its massive Carnaval celebrations are fêted as ‘the most Portuguese of Portuguese carnivals’. It is steeped in history, being one of the focal points during the Napoleonic wars in the Iberian Peninsular.
