IH Guadalajara

Guadalajara, Mexico

IH Guadlajara is a general language school, teaching English to students attending the school, running exams at many schools throughout the city, and of course running teacher training programmes - both CELTA for teaching English and FPELE for teaching Spanish.

The training centre is very well-located. The neighbourhood is safe and the environment is friendly. We are the best location in Guadalajara near the most important avenues, restaurants, bars and near to boutique hotels, art galleries, LGBT-friendly places, pet-friendly hotels and restaurants.

Classrooms are spacious, there is wi-fi, air conditioning, stationery, and photocopiers are available for students to use as requested - with no extra charge.

The school is in a converted house  which means you can really benefit from the spacious private garden, with patios and outside seating. It's an oasis!

Life in and around Guadalajara

Guadlajara is the second city in Mexico and is known as the Mexican Silicon Valley. Popular places to visit include the Guillermo del Toro Exhibition, Guadalajara Zoo, Downtown, Chapultepec Av. (where you can find lots of restaurants, bars/pubs and shows all along the Av.), Colomos Park, Exhibits of Mariachi and Mexican Dance, and lots of shopping malls. The city has the balance between nature and architecture, which is the perfect combination of old and new, and with usually perfect weather to explore downtown.

For some history and culture, it’s worth a visit to one of the local Pueblos Magicos towns, which have a particular cultural richness, tradition, folklore or historical relevance: Tequila, Mazamitla, Tapalpa, Ajijic, Chapala, Huachimontones, Tonala, Tlaquepaque.

Studying at IH Guadalajara

Guadlajara is the second most important city in Mexico. There are direct flights from practically any city in the US, Canada, and in the rest of Latin America, and also flights from the main European cities too through Mexico City.

As with all big cities, the airport is out of town (about 20km away from us), but there are good transport connections into the city. There is a parking lot for students, but if you are coming by public transport there are several bus routes which stop near the school. These connect to Juarez Station, where there is also a subway.

Near to the school are lots of small grocery stores and food stalls, so getting lunch and snacks is very easy. For a restaurant, or for a change, some of our favourites are:

  • SAAM (Korean Food)
  • 48 Café
  • Boulangerie Central
  • Restaurant Periot
  • Outback Steak House
  • Casa Bariachi

The nearest supermarket is Soriana, inside Cititower building on Mexico Av. (just six blocks away from IH Guadalajara).
