Estonia

Teachers in Estonia can experience a unique mixture of beautifully-preserved medieval towns and cities, Baltic beaches, lakes and rolling countryside. Due to its small size, any destination in Estonia is just a few short hours away for teachers wanting to explore the country.

Estonia´s capital Tallinn is a perfect mix of the old and the new. Tallinn is not a very big city, therefore, easy to navigate around. The school is central, next to Tallinn´s Old Town – the best-preserved medieval city in Northern Europe, a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1997. Tallinn has plenty of theatres, galleries, events, museums and restaurants to choose from.

Almost half of Estonia is covered in forest, making hiking and camping popular pastimes in the summer months. There are also many lakes and rivers, and Estonians love sports such as canoeing and swimming, as well as skiing in the winter. As such, Estonia is a wonderland for outdoor types.
Estonia is a very digital society - for example, Estonia was the first country to introduce online voting way back in 2005!

Estonia also has the advantage of being a great base for teachers to explore other parts of Europe. Estonia is just a short ferry trip away from Sweden and Finland, and you can catch a bus to neighbouring Latvia or Lithuania.
