Essential requirements

  • You must have a CELTA, Trinity TESOL, or equivalent initial teaching qualification
  • The role is open only to those with the right to work in the UK.
  • You must have a degree (e.g. BA, BSc)
  • You must have a YL qualification
  • Experience Teaching and coordinating YLs


Job Description

  • To coordinate the Younger Learner staff working alongside the Academic Director and social programme staff
  • To teach timetabled classes, lead educational activities and provide supervisory cover for afternoon and some evening social activities.
  • To be involved in testing and placing new YLs
  • To teach any timetabled classes, at any level and to provide emergency cover when not otherwise timetabled.
  • To manage YL classrooms effectively and guide the students in educational activities and social programme excursions.
  • To supervise afternoon and evening social activities on a rota basis, and to provide out of hours ‘on-call’ support to Group Leaders in case of emergency.
  • To apply Safeguarding principles and work in accordance with the IH Younger Learners’ Policy and Code of Conduct.
