Essential requirements
- You must have a CELTA, Trinity TESOL, or equivalent initial teaching qualification
- Full mastery of English across all 4 skills to CEFR C2/IELTS band 8 required, evidenced by a high standard of written and spoken English throughout the application process. This applies to both native and non-native applicants.
- Preferred: the right to work within the EU. Following Brexit, British citizens may no longer automatically have this right, though we may assist in organising visas on a case-by-case basis. For very strong candidates of other nationalities we may also be able to assist with visas.
Job Description
We are looking for enthusiastic, motivated teachers who would like to join our dynamic team at IH Bydgoszcz, where we have been providing high quality lessons and teacher support for 30 years.
Our school is particularly suitable for teachers in the first few years of their career after their initial certificate. We provide a highly supportive environment where your career can go from strength to strength through our comprehensive development programme. We are highly regarded within the International House organisation and beyond for the quality of our professional development and support for teachers.
Your timetable will include a mix of ages and levels, including young learners, teenagers, adults and 121s. You may also have online or in-company classes, You will be teaching up to 25 hours of English a week (25x45 mins). There is no weekend teaching, although on some Saturdays (max. 4 a year) you will be involved in school social events. Some of your classes will be off-site, and wherever possible you will be driven to these lessons, with travel time paid.
Bydgoszcz is in the north of Poland, with excellent transport links to the rest of Europe, including an international airport with direct flights to the UK and Ireland, making it a good base to explore from. It is also within easy reach of airports in Gdansk, Poznan, Warsaw and Berlin by bus and train. The city has about 400,000 people, with something for everybody. There is a gym and a cinema next door to the school. Bydgoszcz is well-known for its beautiful parks, including one across the road from school and the largest city park in Poland a 10-minute tram ride away.

Other Benefits
Flights: One return flight to Poland from within Europe to the value of approximately 600-800PLN each year. The refund for your flight to Poland is on arrival, with the return leg refunded on completion of the contract.
Accommodation: Shared fully-equipped accommodation provided by the school in a flat with another teacher, including utilities (not internet). All flats are within 25 minutes walking distance of the school. The school also covers flat deposits and estate agent fees for our flats. This is the equivalent of approximately 1,200 PLN per teacher per month.
Holiday: Regular holidays throughout the year, including two weeks at Christmas/New Year and two weeks in January/February, Easter and other national holidays. Approximately two weeks pro-rata holiday pay is paid at the end of the contract.
