About the teacher training centre
With a 100% pass rate across our teacher training courses, IH Bucharest is one of Romania’s most trusted centres for internationally recognised teacher development.
For almost 25 years, we have supported teachers at every stage of their professional journey, offering Cambridge-accredited and internationally recognised qualifications including TKT, CELTA, DELTA, IHCYLT and IHVYL.
We are the only DELTA centre in Romania and the only centre in the country where teachers can access the full Cambridge teacher training pathway — from TKT to CELTA and DELTA. We are also the only provider in Romania offering IHCYLT and IHVYL, specialist qualifications for teachers who work with young learners and very young learners.
Our courses are practical, rigorous and supportive. Teachers leave with clearer lesson planning, stronger classroom techniques, more confidence and qualifications that are recognised in Romania and internationally.
IH Bucharest is EAQUALS accredited, with excellence confirmed in all areas of teaching and learning in the last two inspections. As part of the International House global network, we bring decades of teacher training expertise into a human, professional and highly practical learning environment.
Our teacher training approach is also shaped by a wider educational vision. IH Bucharest is the only RULER-accredited centre in Romania, through the Yale Center for Emotional Intelligence, and the only centre in Romania that is part of the Thinking Schools Network. This means we help teachers develop not only methodology and language awareness, but also the emotional intelligence and critical thinking needed to create stronger learning environments.
Beyond formal qualifications, we also support teachers through free webinars, practical resources and a growing community of like-minded professionals who want to learn, share and develop together.

I started teacher training with becoming a mentor, which was something my own wonderful mentors inspired me to strive for. This involved everything from 1-to-1 input sessions to assisted lesson planning, observations and the occasional counselling session – not too dissimilar to what happens on a CELTA course, in fact! I then slowly started delivering in-house training sessions, short in-service courses and larger-scale workshops for local teachers - and of course the CELTA!

After Budapest I moved to Catania, a city in the very south of Italy, on the island of Sicily. Apart from IH Catania I have also worked for IH Belfast and IH Galway in the past, and I did my DELTA with IH Budapest and IH London. I trained as a teacher trainer after I completed my DELTA.

I took up teacher training in 2015. After a successful teaching career in Bucharest, I felt that the next step is teacher training – a passion that the many training sessions we had at IH Bucharest inspired in me.
